What type of metal is the blade made of? Does it have a 24 kt gold overlay on it

Our sword blades are stainless steel with nickel plating, and any gold elements on our various sword use 24k gold plating.

If a sword has been inherited or purchased secondhand can a previously etched name be removed and over written?

We are able to buff and re-etch our own Marlow White/WKC swords, but we are unable to offer the service for swords from another manufacturer.
