WKC offers a limited production run of ray skin grips for swords, catering to clients seeking historical accuracy. The hides are costly & challenging to work with, contributing to their high price. Crafting each grip requires several hours, as ray skin is fragile until shaped & dried, leading to a high failure rate in production. Despite the challenges, the company meets the demand from clients who desire historically authentic swords.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Normal use will turn the ray skin black through the oils and dirt on your hand. We do not know of a way to safely clean this from the grip. We recommend you either put up with the eventual darkening of the ray skin, use the sword as a display-only piece, or always wear gloves.
- This grip will ONLY fit our WKC Premium Navy Officer's Sword. It does not fit our Standard Navy Officer Sword.
WE CANNOT ACCEPT RETURNS FOR THIS ITEM SAVE FOR MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP FAILURES, SHOULD THEY OCCUR!
For our Clients who want the ultimate in historical accuracy, WKC makes very limited production runs of ray skin grips for your sword. These hides are extremely expensive and very difficult to work with. Hence, their robust price. However, some of our Clients want their sword true to history, so we have answered that demand.
Each of these hand crafted grips takes several hours to assemble the materials into the finished product. Ray skin is particularly difficult to work with in that it is very fragile until being made into its final shape and dried. These characteristics of the material and process lead to a significant failure rate in production.
